Asus also wants to offer barebone systems

As Norwegian colleagues from 'PC World' want to know, Asus is now also planning to manufacture a new series of barebone systems. The small, compact computers, with which the manufacturer Shuttle caused a sensation some time ago, are enjoying increasing popularity.

Asus uses an Intel P4 solution based on the 'SiS 651' chipset with DDR RAM and integrated graphics for its new barebone systems. The dimensions of 36x28x9 cm do not quite correspond to what one is used to in the barebone area. ASUS takes a slightly different approach here.

Asus offers a whole list of features as a special treat. The system should contain a controller for SmartMedia Card, Sony Memory Stick, Multimedia Card and Secure Digital Card and provide a port for PCMCIA cards (PC Card). FireWire, USB2.0, 5.1 audio, 10/100MBit LAN and TV-Out complete the package. The case also has space for a hard drive and a 5.25 'slot for a CD/DVD-ROM has not been forgotten.

Anyone who knows Norwegian can here additional information.
