Asus A7V333 motherboard available now
Yesterday Asus announced the launch of the A7V333 motherboard. The basic version should be available immediately for 229 euros. The price for the version with a FireWire interface (IEEE1394) and an ATA133 RAID controller will be 30 euros higher.
Equipped with the VIA KT333 chipset, the A7V333 now supports the fast PC2700 DDR-Ram memory. Asus C.O.P (CPU Overheating Protection) is used to protect the processor from being destroyed by overheating. This determines the core temperature directly from the diode of an Athlon XP or MP and automatically switches off the mainboard if the limit temperature is exceeded. A second feature to control the temperature of the CPU is the Asus Q-Fan technology. This monitors the speed of the CPU fan and adjusts the speed to the temperature of the processor. When the load on the CPU increases and the temperature rises, the speed will automatically increase. In contrast, the speed is reduced when the CPU is not loaded.
