ASUS A7N266-E with Dolby Digital logo

As ASUS announced in a press release today, the ASUS A7N266-E motherboard is the first and only one in the world that can be adorned with the Dolby Digital logo. The board has the Nvidia chipset nForce 420D.

In addition to integrated graphics and network controller, the chipset has a Sound chip that delivers 5.1 audio signals. In conjunction with an additional card for the ACR slot, the Dolby Digital multichannel signal is then output via S/PDIF output or via five analog I/O ports. This means that DVDs can be seen and heard in the quality you are used to in the cinema and an external Dolby Digital decoder is no longer necessary. The mainboard with ASUS ACR 6-channel audio card should be available immediately, the press release is silent about the price. The Dolby Digital standard was introduced in cinemas in 1992 and, in addition to five sound channels, provides an extra channel for low frequencies (subwoofer).
