AOL plans to enter the German TV market
AOL Time Warner is apparently planning to enter the German TV market on a large scale and is currently looking around for investment opportunities. One shows particular interest in a stake in the European TV giant RTL.
The Essen-based WAZ group, which holds shares in RTL, is currently negotiating the sale of these shares with Bertelsmann, as Bertelsmann has the right of first refusal Has. At AOL Time Warner, however, they would even be willing to pay significantly more than the 3 billion marks demanded by the WAZ boss. By participating, AOL Time Warner would have an influence on 22 TV and 18 radio stations in 11 European countries.
