AOL HighSpeed access is delayed

AOL Germany is moving an Internet connection based on ADSL. Contrary to AOL's announcement to introduce an ADSL-based connection in autumn of this year, AOL is postponing this to the beginning of 2001.

An AOL spokesman told c't magazine that the project was still in the alpha Phase. As a reason, the spokesman referred to “complex problems”, and investments in the company's own infrastructure are still necessary.

The price for such a connection has not yet been determined, but according to initial announcements it should definitely be competitive be. Should a cooperation with Telekom arise, the speed of access will correspond to that of Telekom. However, AOL is also negotiating with other network operators because of the use of the data lines.
