AMD's processor roadmap through 2002
A new processor roadmap has surfaced showing AMD's processor plans through 2002 and allowing some interesting speculation. For example, the Athlon should not reach more than 1GHz.
A processor roadmap has emerged that shows AMD's processor plans up to the year 2002. The exact source of this roadmap is unknown, but some developments can still be estimated from it. The K6-2 and the K6-III are therefore practically dead and the Athlon should also stop at a frequency of 1GHz, which I personally think is unlikely. The Thunderbird can be seen as the successor to the Athlon and will be available for both slot A and socket A. What will follow with Mustang etc. is only to be speculated, as there will certainly be a new slot or socket by then. And Intel will also have a say here.
