AMD's Palomino without a fan?
According to claims by The Register, a Palomino processor with 1.5 GHz manufactured in AMD's Fab25 in Texas no longer needs an active cooler, but is already adequately cooled by a simple passive cooler. This is made possible by the 'super silicon' that is used in AMD's Palomino and causes less heat generation than the previous silicon.
The Palomino prototype with 1.5 GHz should even have aluminum connections because only the Fab30 in Dresden has been able to produce AMD processors with copper connections. The copper connections conduct better than the old aluminum connections.
