AMD starts new advertising campaign for the Athlon XP

AMD has announced that it will publicize the new Athlon XP through a targeted advertising campaign and other sponsorship initiatives. In the largest campaign in Europe to date, the company also relies on radio stations and current daily newspapers such as the 'Süddeutsche Zeitung', 'Frankfurter Rundschau' and the 'Welt'.

The aim is to offer potential customers the slogan ' A New Kind of Fast 'above all shows how quickly applications run under an Athlon XP system and that the clock frequency does not always have to provide information about the performance of a processor. To this end, AMD launched the 'True Performance Initiative', which is supposed to help customers compare the processors with models from the competition. In addition to advertising in the media, AMD has placed perimeter advertising in eight Bundesliga stadiums. In Germany, AMD recently increased its market share from 12.2 percent in the third quarter of 2000 to 33.2 percent in the third quarter of 2001.
