AMD Palomino = Athlon 4
The processor manufacturer AMD wants to market the successor to the Athlon Thunderbird, which is being developed under the code name Palomino, according to unconfirmed rumors as 'Athlon 4'. In internal AMD documents, the new CPU is supposedly already under this name.
Since the K6-2 was once positioned against the Pentium 2 and the K6-III against the Pentium 3, this step seems logical. Because the competitor of the palomino will be the Intel Pentium 4.
