AMD is also lowering processor prices
After Intel significantly reduced the prices for its own processors on Monday, processor prices tumbled at AMD on Tuesday, too. However, the price reduction is far from being as strong as the first rumors suspected.
The following prices apply from today to the purchase of 1000 pieces.
Even if the prices have fallen quite significantly, one went originally from even stronger interventions in the prices out. These prices should then remain stable for a longer period of time, beyond the introduction of the new Athlon XP with Thoroughbred core on June 10th. If the prices at that time were correct and AMD still has the goal of lowering prices to this level (e.g. XP2100 for $ 185), it can be assumed that AMD will lower the prices once again with the introduction of the new processor core . However, these are unconfirmed rumors . Even if AMD does not cut prices again, the AMD processors would still be cheaper to buy than the models from Intel , whose prices were also revised downwards on Monday, as already mentioned. In case of doubt you should be patient until the Thoroughbred is presented in a few days.
