AMD is also in the red
Last year, AMD had sales of around 1.2 billion US dollars in the third quarter, but sales in the third quarter of this year fell to 985.2 million US dollars compared to the second quarter of 2001.
Excluding the special expenses, the loss for the third quarter of 2001 was approximately $ 97.4 million, but with the special expenses it was almost 187 million. This includes special expenses of more than $ 89 million due to layoffs and factory closures. AMD has also bought back its own shares, 6.3 million shares with a value of approximately 63 million US dollars. Even though sales are expected to rise in the fourth quarter, AMD is still assuming further losses. According to its own information, AMD has a market share of 22 percent.
