AMD expects better results in the fourth quarter

AMD announced today that it expects better results for the current fourth quarter. The more positive assessment is based on the contrary to previous expectations, stronger demand for PC processors as well as the continuing demand for AMD's flash products with high storage density.

AMD now anticipates fourth quarter sales as high as $ 700 million. This is around 35% more than the $ 508 million reached in the third quarter of 2002, which ended on September 29, 2002.

The company stated that sales of flash memory products for high-quality mobile phones in particular are continuing be strong. However, AMD also expects higher sales of PC processors due to a more competitive and extensive product range and a seasonally higher demand for PCs.

AMD will announce the results for the fourth quarter of 2002 on January 16, 2003.
