AMD doubles market share

The well-known market research company Dataquest has published a report according to which AMD was able to double its market share in some areas. In Japan alone, the market share for consumer PCs rose from 24 to 54 percent.

In Western Europe, too, the market share rose from 25 percent to 49 percent, which means that almost every second new PC with an AMD Processor is equipped. In the USA the increases are not that big, at least AMD was able to increase from 17 to 27 percent, with government computers to 33 percent. The study also confirms the statement made by the retail chain PC-Spezialist, which reported increased demand for AMD processors due to the newly introduced XP rating. According to our source, AMD not only waives the specification of the clock frequency in megahertz, but also wants to introduce a completely new naming scheme in the near future.
