AMD also announces quarterly results

Almost traditionally, AMD published its own quarterly results one day after Intel's announcement. And as with Intel, the results were significantly worse than in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

However, while Intel lost profits had to put up with, AMD once again made heavy losses. Revenue fell $ 302 million to $ 600 million, a good $ 385 million less than a year ago. The loss rose from $ 9 million to $ 184.9 million. In the previous year the company was able to generate a net profit of US $ 17 million. Sales in the processor division fell by 35 percent compared to the second quarter of 2001, and sales of flash memory by 45 percent. However, according to AMD, the seasonal circumstances should not be ignored here. The numbers are expected to recover somewhat in the 3rd quarter, but AMD is still in the red in the coming months.
