ALis Pentium 4 chipset still in January?
The widespread delivery of the Aladdin P4 chip was planned for the end of 2001. More than a small number of test samples have not yet been sent to the board manufacturers. It looks like Acer Labs Industries wants to start sales in January.
The Aladdin P4 will not come close to the new, quasi-reference Intel i845D in terms of performance or features, but it could be for a reason its even lower price, especially in the low-cost segment. The SiS645 will probably turn out to be the main competitor here. But with ASUS, Iwill and SOYO, as well as other manufacturers, well-known companies have announced the use of the Aladdin P4. By the way, legal problems like those VIA had with Intel are excluded. In addition to SiS and ATI, ALi has also paid its license fees to Intel.
