AIM security hole also applies to ICQ2000
The security hole that appeared in AOL Instant Messenger a few days ago could be fixed with a server-side patch at short notice, but ICQ 2000 is said to be affected by the problem as well.
The American Daniel Tan who found the hole claims to have discovered in ICQ, will only come up with more detailed information after the problem has been fixed by AOL, the owner of ICQ since 1998, in order not to make things unnecessarily easier for hackers. The fact that the error occurs in both instant messengers is due to the identical network communication via TLV packets. It is to be hoped that an update of the server will be sufficient to solve the problem. According to Tan, ICQ 2001 is not affected.
