ABIT enters the server market

Abit continues to strive to expand its market position. Not so long ago Abit only sold graphics cards and multimedia products. Abit now wants to get involved in the high-end computer segment with the production of mainboards for servers and workstations.

Abit will present its first mainboard for this market to the public at CeBIT in Hanover. The dual processor motherboard for Intel Xeon (Prestonia) processors equipped with the Intel 7500E chipset is presented under the designation SI-2P. The Abit SI-2P comes with two Socket 603, 4 normal PCI slots and 2 PCI slots that support 'hot plug', an integrated dual-channel Ultra160 SCSI controller and a 1Gbit Ethernet controller.
