6000 Intel Itanium systems already in circulation
Since the beginning of the year, Intel has already shipped 6,000 computer systems with an Intel Itanium processor for test purposes. Accordingly, practically every potential buyer of the 64-bit processor already has a free copy.
It is therefore questionable who will actually buy the CPU, which costs around 1000-4000 US dollars in the first quarter. According to the current status, the Itanium will appear with 733 and 800MHz, whereby it has 2 or 4MB L2 cache depending on the version.
