40 percent of Transmeta employees have to leave
Processor manufacturer Transmeta is still not doing very well. Although it was possible to increase sales significantly by 82 percent to 7.5 million US dollars, the losses have also increased again. Now the company has announced cost-cutting measures.
As the manufacturer of the Crusoe energy-saving processor announced, 200 employees will be laid off. This corresponds to around 40 percent of the entire workforce. With this step, the aim is to lay the foundation for black numbers in the fourth quarter of 2003. The previously announced and highly integrated TM6000 processor from Transmeta will also no longer see the light of day. Rather, you want to concentrate on your current TM5800 processor.
However, the future of the company is still not in good shape. The loss in the second quarter of this year was no less than 24.7 million US dollars (according to GAAP accounting even significantly more). This alone makes it clear that the cart will not be pulled out of the dirt so easily.
