3dfx no longer wants to manufacture graphics cards
After it was announced today that the Voodoo5 6000 will never be used in a desktop PC, it is now said that 3dfx even wants to withdraw completely from graphics card production. From now on, 3dfx will probably focus more on the production of set-top boxes, cellular phones, game consoles and handheld PCs.
This contradicts the events of recent years, in which 3dfx even bought STB. The graphics card factory in Mexico is to be closed and 3dfx will only sell its chips to third-party manufacturers who will then produce cards with the chips themselves. Due to the many delays in the completion of the products and the severe supply problems, 3dfx has thus finally lost the battle for leadership in the graphics card market. How the situation will develop further remains to be seen with excitement.
