3dfx´ next generation of graphics

On the 3dfx page there was already brief information about the next generation of graphics cards from 3dfx. The following data was briefly shown:

  • M-Buffer: Like the T -Buffer a game-independent full-scene anti-aliasing. The process is supposed to be faster than the previously used supersampling, in that the bandwidth requirement for texturing is reduced to 1/4.
  • Recursive textures: The Specter can apply 8 textures to one pixel in one pass, creating effects such as air turbulence.
  • Overbright Lighting: The lighting conditions are represented more realistically by covering a larger color spectrum.
  • Perlin Noise: Effects such as constantly changing ones can be created using random textures generated in real time Realize clouds.
